For many of us, we have a need to remove annoying or unwanted hair from various parts of our body. Lasers provide a quick and permanent way in which to accomplish this with little or no down time.
At Quintessa Medical Spa, we use the LightSheer® diode laser that emits a non-invasive light in the form of a concentrated beam which focuses specifically on the hair follical. The light heats up the hair follicle, impeding its ability to regrow. Multiple hair follicles can be treated at one time in both small as well as large areas of your body. Though, unlike waxing or eletrolysis, laser hair removal is quicker and permanent.
While darker hair at daily growth level is best to target with this treatment, all skin types can be treated using the laser. Some patients may experience redness or minor swelling. This will typically disappear in a few hours. The hair that has been destroyed will fall out 2-3 weeks following even the first treatment. More stubborn or difficult hair may require more than one treatment.
We do not recommend laser hair removal for patients who are or have:
Pregnant
Diabetic
History of Skin Cancer
History of Skin Keloids or prone to scarring after a skin trauma
Active Infection (e.g. herpes simplex)
Use medication that is affected by light exposure
